New fabric dyeing technology to cut down on pollutants

We all know that industry is contributing to the environmental pollution in a big way. When you hear that an industry came up with a new technology to cut down on their contribution to the environmental pollution, it is welcome news for the whole world. Bloomberg Businessweek has recently reported that a new method to dye fabrics is helping to cut down on pollutants.

The traditional dyeing process takes approximately eight hours to complete the process and consume 100 to 300 tons of water to color a ton of fabric. The new method called ColorZen as tested takes 95 percent fewer chemicals, 90 percent less water, 75 percent less energy, 50 percent less dye, and less than one-third of the time to process 400 pounds of cotton fiber according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

Imagine an industry known for wasting water and generating pollutants is coming up with a new technology to clean up the industry? Currently China, Thailand and India are dumping polluted water into rivers and streams that others depend on for supply of drinking water. This new technology could help many developing countries to clean up their industrial activity and help to improve the environment.
